About

About us: celebration trips, planned around the weather

Indochina Luxury Tours plans private trips in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for one kind of traveller: people marking an occasion. Couples on honeymoon, couples at an anniversary, friends at a round-number birthday. This page explains how we work and where we are the wrong choice.

What we do

We plan private trips of roughly ten to sixteen days for two people or a small group of friends. Every trip has the same three parts: a culture half, a beach half, and one evening built around the occasion. The routes are slow, with three or four nights in most places, and private throughout: your own car, your own guide on the days you want one, your own boat where a boat is part of the day.

What makes the planning ours is the order we do it in. We start with the month you can travel and the coast that is in season that month, then build the culture stops around it. The beach calendar on this site is the tool we use for that, and we publish it with its sources so you can check our reasoning.

How we plan

  1. 01

    Month first

Which coast is dry when you can travel. Everything else follows from that.

  2. 02

    Beach last, never short

At least four nights at the end, on a coast that is in season.

  3. 03

    Culture in threes

Three nights per culture stop where possible; two at the least.

  4. 04

    The occasion in writing

What the hotel will do, on which night, and what happens if the weather turns.

We name every hotel and boat in the quote. We list every service as private or shared. We show third-party prices — park tickets, entrance fees — at the published rate, with where they were published.

What we do not do well

  • Family and multi-generation trips. Children's needs, connecting rooms, grandparents' pace — we do not plan for these, and our hotel choices reflect that.
  • Large groups. Above about twelve people, private dinners and private boats stop being what they sound like. We are not set up for weddings abroad or company trips.
  • Budget travel. Our trips use private cars and guides throughout, and hotels chosen for the occasion. If the budget is tight, a good guesthouse and a shared tour will serve you better than a cut-down version of what we do.
  • Adventure and trekking. Our routes are easy on the body: a few kilometres of walking at the temples and in old towns, nothing more.
  • Last-minute trips in peak weeks. For the Lunar New Year and the December holidays, the resorts and boats we prefer fill early. With a few weeks' notice we may only be able to offer second choices.

Why there are no reviews on this site

We do not publish customer reviews on our own pages. Reviews on an operator's own site are chosen by the operator, and you have no way to tell which were left out. We would rather show you how we plan — the calendar, the pricing breakdown, the list of things that depend on the hotel — and let you judge from that.

If you would like to speak to someone who has travelled with us, ask when you send the form. Where a previous traveller has agreed to it, we can put you in touch by email.

What we will not write on this site

  • A price from, when the honest range is too wide to mean anything
  • A promise of a beach dinner, when it depends on a resort and the wind
  • A claim that any month is good everywhere
  • A review we cannot show you the author of

If something on this site turns out to be out of date — a ticket price, a season, a rule at a site — tell us through the form and we will correct it.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Do you plan trips in Thailand or Myanmar?

No. Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos only.

Can we travel with our children?

Our trips are planned for adults marking an occasion. For a family trip we are not the right choice, and we will say so rather than adapt a route that was not built for it.

Do you have an office we can visit?

We work with travellers by email, from the first form to the final documents. Everything you need is sent in writing.

Who will meet us on arrival?

Your driver, and on culture days your guide. Their names are in the final documents we send before you travel.

Tell us the occasion, the month and who is coming

A month, the number of travellers and the occasion are enough to start. You get a draft route and an itemised quote, not a brochure.

Add more detail optional — the more you tell us, the closer the first draft lands
Budget, nationality and special requests can follow in conversation.
